SG Motorfest 2019 - Bikes, Cars, Food, and of course, Racing.

It is truly heartening to see more and more motorsports events springing up around the local scene here, especially when it involves and promotes Singaporean racers and hopefuls willing to take the step to pit and hone their skills in a safe and controlled environment.

Certainly we would also want to promote safe and legal motorsports events where the youth can train and race, instead of participating in wanton acts of illegal street racing.

That being said, last weekend was another flurry of festivities with the inaugural SGmotorfest dropping on 27 and 28 of April 2019. Honest to God it seemed like the whole event just materialised out of thin air, with the full backing of sponsors such as Motoworld, who seems to be the major partner of this hugely successful event.

Loving the image and colours.

Angled as a bazaar-style festival complete with booths from participating partners like Custom Studios (CSGraffix) and SIMFAI Solutions who specialises in racing simulation software, it was shaping up to be a huge hit with car and motorbike lovers alike. Former Singapore Idol winner Hardy Mirza was also slated to make a special appearance on the last day as well, so for those die-hard fans of the local crooner who missed out, sucks to be you I guess.

Iron-on patches to show your badd-assery on the street. or just to troll motorists.

Of course, on top of all the games and shopping that can be done at the festival, there was also a segment for racers to tear up the old Kallang Leisure Carpark circuit, where the festival was being held. Many old-time veterans on the local racing scene would have shed s nostalgic tear seeing these young passionate racers burning rubber on the circuit.

And if there's a local race happening in Singapore, you can bet your bottom dollar that Iron Horse Racing Team is gonna be there. Never one to pass up an opportunity to twist throttle, two of our riders, WJ Huang (fresh out from NS and raring to go) and Lud signed up for the under 200 combined category.

Practice and qualifying started from the first day of the festival.

WJ on the left, Lud on the right.

Saturday qualifying was unbelievably hot and adding to the already humid climate, our riders and bike were fast expiring under the extreme heat waves.

Thankfully, our riders were ready with an adequate supply of Liqui Moly engine oils, lubricants and coolants to ensure that their engines were running at optimal levels for these two days of intense riding.

Only use the best 2T oil - Liqui Moly has it.

Satisfied yet Lud?

Shy or just wiping sweat? In this weather, who knows.

Remember your 8 hours of uninterrupted rest and drink plenty of fluids. Otherwise you'll end up like Lud.

Second day of the event saw a lot more action from the different categories. Of course, there was no shortage of on-track drama:

Thankfully, although WJ did suffer two small crashes in qualifying, he was able to pull through alright and come off strong from this race. Both him and Lud showed that Iron Horse Racing was so much more than a amateur race team, showing both heart and determination throughout the weekend.

Calm yourself WJ, please.

Another race weekend done and dusted. Iron Horse Racing would like to thank the organisers of this widly successful SG Motorfest, as well as all our partners, sponsors, supporters and of course the amazing team members that make Iron Horse what she is today.

Till the next race. Watch us.
